Oracle TFA

SYMPTOMS

• This problem is on an Oracle Engineered System (Exadata, SuperCluster, etc)

• All databases using the /u01 mount point are stopped/down.

• CRS was stopped normally with no errors ( crsctl stop crs or crsctl stop crs -f ).

• Attempting to unmount /u01 as root results in the following:  

       cannot unmount '/u01': Device busy

CAUSE

The TFA daemon runs from the GI home and is still running.

SOLUTION

1.  Ensure TFA is not running:

     /bin/tfactl stop

     The path to TFA_HOME can be found using this command:

     grep 'TFA_HOME=' /etc/init.d/init.tfa

2.  Retry the unmount:

     umount /u01
